Dido that Sargent...Nationally I can think of no other org other than NRA that has the resources (from member contributions) and firepower needed to defend our 2nd Amendment Rights! Local/State Orgs are an important piece of the puzzle helping do battle for local legislation changes which in-turn give strength to the national effort. The Supreme Court is where the legal wars are won, my money is on the NRA!

I am a member of GA Carry... which is great for GA issues.

However, federal law trumps state law always. So, I am a member of the 800 lb gorilla in the room, the NRA. They may not be the most effective (2nd Amendment Foundation is much more effective), but they scare the bejeezus out of liberal gun haters. The NRA keeps them at bay due to the sheer numbers.

For $25/year (discounted membership) you can feed the 800 lb gorilla many more bananas and keep the libs on their toes. Note: they don't have my phone number, so I don't get calls. I only get about 1 mailing per month outside of American Hunter magazine and an occasional catalog.

While you're at it, join the 2nd amendment foundation for $10. www.saf.org

So only members of the group can complain? What if we choose to not join because of complaints we already have. How does giving them money change this?

I just got a "Join the NRA" packet in the mail today. I am not sure if I want to. I am just not thinking they are really doing much for run rights. I have heard Georgia Carry is a better "group" to hook up with. What's yalls opinion?

Have you decided yet? LOL I was looking to join one too and I am watching this with a lot of interest hope you (we) can decide which side of the fence to get on. I have heard good things about both but I am leaning to GCO cause I feel like local org. would be more inline with my concerns than a national org.

Member of NRA and Georgia Carry. Not a fan of all the mail NRA sends once a week asking for more money. Figure they spend more printing and mailing then they actually get back. Plus they always have those huge gun giveaways and I never win.

I must be the exception, I'm a life member of the NRA and I get my American Hunter mag every month, they don't bug the crap out of me since becoming a life member and I'm not getting bombarded with pleas for money all the time. I am however going to be joining GCO too and maybe SAF also.

I'm NRA life member and GCO member. We wouldn't have the GCO if it weren't for the NRA. We have to have representation at the national level. I'm going to join SAF soon too. It aggrevates me that NRA and GCO can't play nice since both organizations are fighting for the same cause. There is a need for both of them.
