NY- Manhattan DA will no longer seek jail punishment for most felony crimes !

It is true that there are closet Liberals and Democrats on this forum. I just wish they kept their effed up dumbass opinions to their self.
If you have something constructive to add - by all means, please do.

You are cherry picking over details. There's extenuating circumstances that play into those prosecutions.

1. This rule may be excepted only in extraordinary circumstances based on a holistic
analysis of the facts, criminal history, victim’s input (particularly in cases of
violence or trauma), and any other information available.

2. Armed robbers who use guns or other deadly weapons to stick up stores and other businesses will be prosecuted only for petty larceny, a misdemeanor, provided no victims were seriously injured and there’s no “genuine risk of physical harm” to anyone.

3. Convicted criminals caught with weapons other than guns will have those felony charges downgraded to misdemeanors unless they’re also charged with more serious offenses. Criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony, is punishable by up to 7 years behind bars. (Criminals are almost always charged with more serious crimes.)

4. suspected dealers will only be prosecuted on felony charges if they’re also accused of more serious crimes or are actually caught in the act of selling drugs. (Most are caught selling or on another more serious charge when the drugs are discovered. Basically, no more Stop & Frisk just to find a reason to lock people up.)

5. ADAs should use their judgment and experience to evaluate the person arrested, and identify people: who suffer from mental illness; who are unhoused; who commit crimes of poverty; or who suffer from substance use disorders. (Sounds pretty intelligent to get people help who need it instead of just locking them up.)

All of that is reasonable and doesn't suggest they are just freeing criminals or ignoring crimes, as you keep eluding too. They are focusing on the "bigger fish" instead of locking up every idiot that has a joint in their pocket. People do dumb things for a variety of reasons, doesn't mean they should spend 20 years in jail for it.

I believe people should pay the price for their crimes, but the punishment should fit the crime. NY is notorious for ridiculous sentences. And keep in mind that TAXPAYERS fund these jails. So the more people that stay out of jail for minor stuff, means less money from our pockets. If I don't like the laws/ rules somewhere, I don't go there. Read the article and contextualize, instead of twisting it. Your opinions are no more valid than anyone else, so to start name calling because someone disagrees with you sounds exactly like the people you hate so much.

You may not have heard ,things like cars , busses and planes allow them to travel anywhere .

So a criminal who will not be incarcerated by the NY- Manhattan DA who will no longer seek jail punishment for most felony crimes ! .......Will travel to Georgia instead to commit crimes he will be incarcerated and jailed for instead of staying in NY. :confused2:

cool and 800k illegal voters can now vote. Burn baby burn

While federal law does not expressly prohibit noncitizens to vote in state and local elections, no states allow noncitizens to vote in those elections, with a few minor exceptions. Since the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 was passed, noncitizens have been barred from voting in federal elections such as presidential elections.

Lawmakers in New York City have approved legislation that will allow about 800,000 legal non-citizens to vote in local elections. This is included in the Naturalized U.S. citizens process. Meaning they'd have to already have applied and been accepted into the process to vote. So there's nothing illegal about it.

Part of the qualification is having a residence in NY, current on all taxes, in good standing with immigration, and having no criminal record that would prevent one from meeting any qualifications.

Thats overkill.
But there are countries that put peeps to death for drugs. You can bet your ass that the drug problems are very minor in those types of countries.
I have been to Singapore. One of the safest countries on earth surrounded by dangerous places, They do not make citizens out of anyone that wanders across their borders and when I was there, they were executing drug traffickers. They had a warning to drug traffickers on the immigration form. Not everything is great about the country but they do not tolerate crime at any level.

That's how I feel about crime. If a criminal does something to harm others, especially on a large scale like trafficking or sex crimes, then save the jail space. I'd happily supply the bullet.

In order for the communists to make Amerika like the USSR, they have to make the people hurt and beg for it to stop.

Turning predators loose on society will destroy our communities, and then the socialist bastards will say
"embrace Big Brother. Give everything to the Government, and The Government will give you everything you need, including peace and safety."
