I just spoke to a child-good friend of mine who is a Correction 's Officer in New York City, he said your friend is looking at a year in jail for the empty gun and a month for every bullet. If, they don't charge him for the bullets he's out in 6 months on good behavior in Rikers Island.

Wow, simply amazing this is even possible in America. We all know they are ****ed up, but when you see it spelled out like this it is mind blowing.

hopefully you earlier part is a joke. It's doubtful they would come down for him but he would have warrant forwarded to his local agency and it would show up on ncic, depending on how harsh they are towards him may even get marshal service after him if he did that.

I'm honestly surprised they let him bond out with a court date and leave the state. Many of felony bond outs I've seen lately have ankle monitors, atleast in the metro Atlanta area. Good luck to your friend, he's gonna need it. I can almost guarantee you the judge or arresting officers or both told him ignorance of the law is no excuse.

The sincere issue is the gentleman is familiar with the supreme law of the land but the elites of NYC refuse to respect it.

This is yet one more reason for a National Carry Act to prevent leftist from abusing their granted powers.

Plaxico was rich and had a great lawyer and got locked up for 2 years. This dude might get a decade.

Plaxico carried a concealed, loaded gun into a bar, was showboating with it and negligently discharged it, wounding himself. That's a far cry from an unloaded gun inside one's own car, with ammo separately locked up in the same vehicle, where no shots were fired, and nobody was endangered.

The friend should not have consented to a search. He'd have no problems today if he hadn't.

Suggestion: In addition to the NRA, the friend should reach out to GOA, JFPO, and any other major gun rights group. Also search for pro 2A attorneys who take potentially high profile cases pro bono. This could be turned into a public relations problem for NYC, and that may help.

Recall, a few years ago, the PA women who got stopped in NJ with a (PA legal) handgun in her car, and was looking at five years hard time? Gov. Christie pardoned her.

Of course, it would help if the OP's friend was a black woman, arrested in a state with a republican governor trying to burnish his conservative credentials for a presidential run. Instead, he'll have to play the hand he was dealt.

Alaska is supposed to be very nice in the summer.

How many ****ing times do people need to be told to have their **** tight when they travel into occupied territory? Have your tags - current, your tail lights and turn signals working, have your registration and proof of insurance ready to hand over, leave your dope/baggies/roaches/scales or any other type paraphernalia at your cook location or stash house, don't have a bunch of jackass stickers all over your car/truck windows and for God's sake never give consent for a cop to search your damned vehicle.
