I had a pair move into my valley last Spring and managed to kill the female. Then no further sign of the male. I think he moved on looking for a new mate. Then had a young one show up about a month ago, but I think he was just passing through.

This POS has taken up residence. This is the third time I've gotten him on trail came and four or five days ago he crossed the road in front of me when I was leaving the area.
 
I read recently that where there are many coyotes killing a male will only leave a three day or so vacancy before one fills it
Sounds about right. There are always males ready to breed the females. That's why killing the females is so important.

Take out a male and you have killed one yote. Kill a female and you will kill every pup she would ever have had.
