Anyone around west ga melt silver shot I have roughly 48 oz I want to melt into bars

Ditto, I need to find a local assayer.

My father bought two silver balls from a jeweler back in the 1960's when I was a kid. We've had these unmarked balls in the family for 60 years. I think the jeweler melted down his scrap silver, and perhaps thinking pre-1964 coinage would soon become "illegal" to own, melted down some coins as well.

Need to get these converted into something more fungible. Each one weighs in at more than 60 oz.

I'll bet no US coins....copper has a greater melting point....probably just his "left over" silver, in which case you would be better off...very cool!!!

I have a calibrated XRF gun and would happily test them for you for free, but I am in Dalton GA. I work at an Aerospace Machining company and we have a 40K testing device for metals. I test everything I buy before I buy it. Even at a coin dealer etc. But if there is lead or steel in the center it won't pick that up. Only the outer metal

That's a nice toy to have and get peace of mind while buying.
I've been thinking about a PMV even though I've only been stuck with 2 counterfeit 1oz rounds over my 35+ years of collecting and stacking.

Just now starting to research the PMVs on what's what in the under a grand price range models.
