You can count on some people showing up at the door without a badge. If you turn them away they might make a scene and you don't want that. Sell blank badges at the door and let those folks write in their name.
Good luck at keeping this show a ODT secret. But I agree that it should not be promoted to the general public.

I would say to still allow sales at the door because I think we can get more people to the venue that way. Last minute work schedules, etc. happen and it would be nice to have those folks show up. I pre-paid my fee but not sure if my boys will be able to come that day or not so I would like the option to pay at the door if they can make it.

But something to keep in mind is that the civic center hosts a couple of gun shows a year. When locals drive by and see a parking lot full of folks with guns ('cause folks will be carrying stuff they just bought or traded) they're going to think it's a gun show.

So when joe public shows up to the entrance I see three options.

1 - Turn them away. Sorry, private event.
2 - Accept their money but make them join ODT first.
3 - Accept their money and let them in.

The more folks that are inside the hall the better the opportunity an ODT'er has to sell/trade his/her stuff. At that point it seems it would be less of an ODT thing and more of a public thing.

How does this stuff get so complicated so quickly???

Your boys are free either way :D (under 18 right? )

This is easy: codeword to get in after security tells you it's a private event.

My thoughts are , private ODT event ! You start letting just any drive by walk ups in , you’ve lost the true intent of the function ! Just my thoughts , but , not my party. I do really appreciate the idea / effort of this !!!

Hayata Hayata has convinced me that we might get more people wandering in than I was thinking. I'll just have to figure out some kind of pass that people can get if they want to pay cash or decide to come at the last minute.
