only one gun to do all

I hope it is ok to post this here. So in case of a shtf case of bug out or something where u had to live off the land. Lets say you could only have one gun that would do it all, so #1 you have to hunt with it small game and big game #2 protect yourself from others. #3 have plenty of ammo also. Now it could be a hand gun or rifle so what Would u pick. Me I have no clue .

12 gauge shotgun will do all of that... A 22 rifle will do most of it and you can carry a lot more ammo.

Your post reminded me of the Liberator that was dropped in France in WWII. It was basic and primitive. But that one gun led to others, better.
Having said that, I see no reason to be tied to one gun. It would be a 22 rifle though.

Ok what about a sigle shot 12 gauge With the Multi caliber insert kit . You would have everything from .22 to 30/30,9mm,45,357,44.

.22lr or a pellet gun. Only things small enough that you can carry literally a couple thousand rounds and find ammo for reasonably. Well, maybe not finding .22lr laying around much any more...lol

Mine would be a 22lr semi auto too. But logically I would say a 22mag is the best choice. It's 40gr bullet does around 2000fps and you can carry a crap load of ammo. With ballistic tips you can expect to remove a soft ball sized chunk on impact and let's face it. I can think of a part of my body that I'm ok with a softball sized chunk disappearing from. They used to poach deer with a 22mag back in the day (so I heard from a Ranger)
