I've had a lot of discussions with various folks about this very choice and my options would be as follows:I hope it is ok to post this here. So in case of a shtf case of bug out or something where u had to live off the land. Lets say you could only have one gun that would do it all, so #1 you have to hunt with it small game and big game #2 protect yourself from others. #3 have plenty of ammo also. Now it could be a hand gun or rifle so what Would u pick. Me I have no clue .
2nd Choice would be a .22Magnum / .410 over/under by Savage/Springfield/ChiappaI've had a lot of discussions with various folks about this very choice and my options would be as follows:
1-22/22magnum pistol with interchangeable cylinders
1-22magnum rifle / preferable a lever gun as you could carry a log of ammo with various bullets and with a well placed shot you should be able to harvest any type of game for survival, elk, moose, deer, rabbit, turkey, pheasant, mountain lion, etc. Note: The well placed shot (ear/head/eye/forehead) not body.
Ar-15 and a 22 conversion that way you can shoot 5.56 and .22 ammo
Came to post this..honestly with that setup, there isn't a whole lot you can't do with it. Only limitation may be the accuracy of the .22 from the 5.56 barrel may not be the best but mine have always been minute of squirrel at about 50+ yards.Ar-15 and a 22 conversion that way you can shoot 5.56 and .22 ammo
