only one gun to do all

I've had a lot of discussions with various folks about this very choice and my options would be as follows:
1-22/22magnum pistol with interchangeable cylinders
1-22magnum rifle / preferable a lever gun as you could carry a log of ammo with various bullets and with a well placed shot you should be able to harvest any type of game for survival, elk, moose, deer, rabbit, turkey, pheasant, mountain lion, etc. Note: The well placed shot (ear/head/eye/forehead) not body.
2nd Choice would be a .22Magnum / .410 over/under by Savage/Springfield/Chiappa
Opinions are like A..Holes everyone has one but I like my first option, it is practical, functional, lots of different bullet options as well between .22LR & .22 Magnum.

This post is probably too little too late but my choice is a .22Magnum. With a well placed shot(head/ear) you can drop almost any big game animal (not bears) in the US. You have a wide choice of .22Mag ammo to pick from, including shot shells from CCI. I've killed 3000 pound bulls with one .22Mag FMJ to the head (sweet spot). It has also done the job on deer, antelope, coyotes, rabbits, as well as elk.
This. AR15 for deer, bad guys, dogs, etc. Change to the 22LR and you're good to go with small game.
Just go to the range ahead of time so you know how much to adjust your sights/optic when going from one to the other. It's 4.5 MOA up when going from 5.56 zeroed at 300 yards to 22LR zeroed at 25 yards for mine.
Came to post this..honestly with that setup, there isn't a whole lot you can't do with it. Only limitation may be the accuracy of the .22 from the 5.56 barrel may not be the best but mine have always been minute of squirrel at about 50+ yards.
Why not just have a .22lr complete upper and mags for your .556?

Having one firearm for all purposes is like having one set of footwear.
Will tennis shoes be a good substitute for hiking boots? For waterproof mud and snow boots?
For sandals? For dress shoes?
I would insist on having a concealable gun, meaning either a handgun or possibly an SBR / SMG that I could stick under a windbreaker if I had to be discreet while out in public and didn't want to draw attention to myself.
If I could have two guns, one would be a normal-sized semi-auto handgun in a popular caliber like 9mm or .40.
One would be a rifle. Probably an AR carbine. Yeah, it's overkill for small game, but with FMJ ammo it shouldn't be too bad. You could shoot a rabbit and still have some meat left to eat. Not all of it would turn into pink mist mixed with brown fur and splattered all over the field.
For anybody that said they'd want a .22LR, I'd suggest making it a .22 WMR. .22 magnums are considerably more powerful, but the ammo is still light and easy to carry. And in my experience, you "can" fire a .22LR if you run out of magnum ammo and the only choice is to shoot long rifle rounds or don't use your only long gun at all. (P.S. I'm not saying YOU can shoot .22lr out of your .22 magnum. I'm just saying that I did, with several different guns, and I'm still alive and my guns ain't broke, and I did hit the target (though accuracy was not as good).
