they been out during the day all through june up into july and bam they are showing up in the dark.They change their patterns

Oh yeah they will move in the day but year round they are primarily a nighttime animal. Much of it has to do with predators. You are right, though, that their summertime routines get thrown to the wind once hunting season starts and there is less daytime movement.
