Yes having Internet access to check prices or markings is great. I personally go to shows for the experience and to buy small things that you can find cheap (surplus gear, ammo cans, etc). Ammo prices are about 150-200% of what you can find online usually (seriously), even with shipping included. Gun prices are hit or miss, but for what i have looked for specifically I have never found a killer deal. Remember you are paying taxes at a show also usually, unless it is cash and the seller can work in a cash price.
That brings up another thing: never be afraid to make an offer on something, especially if you have cash.
Like Steve said, if you are going to browse for nothing in particular you have a much better chance of walking away with a bargain.
