There are still places with those herds. Primarily privately owned lands. Millions of acres that are protected and cared for as if they were the most valuable thing on Earth. Maybe they are.

Photo safaris aren't cheap, but they aren't nearly as expensive as hunting safaris.

Finally got a better pic and he's definitely the one that lost an eye last year. His body sure has filled out in the off season. He's a seriously big guy.
