like the one I trapped 2 weeks ago it went to the skinning pole within 15 minutes of being dispatched
then into a cooler, meat was layered between ice, with the drain plug open
the backstraps and tenderloin went into the fridge for 3 days to dry, and was eaten
the rest of the meat in the cooler was cut up the next day and vacuum sealed and frozen

now i have taken a hog that was wallowing in an old mud hole and was coated in mud
the meat tasted just like the mud hole smelled
I ended up giving the meat away on this one after tasting the 1st backstrap

he cleaned up good, weighed 387 on the scale

Most domestic boars have a taint to the meat, hence they sell at sale barns (if bought there the next destination must be a slaughterhouse) for around 4 cents a pound. I am sure wild boars have the same taste issues if not worse.
