Have any of you heard of permaculture (food forest)? If so, what do you think of it? Do you like the concept? I'm about to start a permaculture project on my property. About an acre or two to start with, and see how it goes.

What I have learned from my half hearted effort. 1. Wood chips suck nitrogen the first year, contribute nitrogen to the soil after that. (Let them decompose for a year before you use them on your garden.) 2. Georgias humidity and rain make weeds a serious problem.

I too am very interested. I know it takes a while to get it set up and functioning properly. I am planning on setting up a several acre permaculture once I get a few more things situated on our property. It seems to be the ultimate way to farm and be self sustaining if you get it set up properly.

Koinonia Farm in Southwest GA (around Americus) does or did an annual permaculture course. It used to be in September & was a 1 week course. I wanted to take it but never did.
