Personal collection on display at FFL?

It's a sporting goods store, not a museum. Could see all kinds of bad things come from this. Gun stolen, gun damaged, gun sold. If I were the owner I wouldn't want the liability, if I were you I wouldn't want others knowing what I had. JMO.

I can't understand why the shop wouldn't want to just display what they sell. I wouldn't put my stuff out there for anyone to see. Everything is going to be squarely after November 8th.

OP is not the "licensee."

No different that dropping one off for repair or consignment.

Also, according to OP, his guns will not "be kept segregated from the licensee’s business inventory"

My opinion is, this is one of the questions, the answer to which you don't want to be the one to find out.
The way I understand it, consignments have to be 4473'd at pick up. Repairs don't if it's the same person that brought it in, you just put there info in the A&D. Any thing left overnight goes in the book.

A local shop i frequent also has not for sale and the owners leaves them in store on display. I need to ask him how he did it. he runs a very large wheel gun/browning shotgun barrel store.

The reason I wanted to display a few is to spruce up inventory a little. this is a small shop with around 20 guns now. More as it grows.

Everything locked in safe bolted to floor each night.

Thanks fro all the feedback guys!

I know the licesnsee can have his personal guns displayed without logging in the book as long as they're marked not for sale. Not sure about a non licensee even if it's an employee. Best thing to do is call ya'lls ATF field agent and ask him/her.

I don't know about legal or illegal or what, but I know at least one LGS that has several guns on display that are the owner's and the employee's and they're not marked in any way whatsoever.

Edited to add they're also not for sale.
