Pet shot and at the vet

Dang. What vets do you guys go to? Mine only charges $85 to euthanize a cat, and that is with an exam first and a little paw print pressed into a clay circle for a memento.

I just had to put one of mine down last week. He had a seizure while sitting on my lap and it caused him to go blind. Doc said most likely cause was a tumor, so I had him put down. $85 all said and done. A bit more than a .22, but still reasonable. If the vet had been closed due to snow, he would have gotten the .22. It is just the right thing to do.

I was thinking the same, about a month or so ago I had my pal of 15 years put down and they charged me $85 for the last visit to make sure it was completely necessary and then to go ahead with it.

Lots of solid advice in this thread, and lots of total big mouth "wannabe tough guy" stupid.

I didn't realize Georgia, and this forum had been overrun by citified northern liberals!!
$1,000 to fix a pet! You guys are insane...

Gee, that must be it. Anyone who is willing to sacrifice anything to save their pet must be a citified northern liberal Obama/Hillary supporter. What a gentleman you must be...

I had a champion squirreler dog that I spent 3K on in two years. First year she tore her left ACL second year she tore her right ACL. We nicknamed her Jamal Anderson. Any Falcons fan will get it. She still squirrled for many years and out squirreled champion hair dogs.

For some people $1,000 is hardly a sacrifice, at all.
I don't get some of the money spent on cars I see driving around. I guess I could say they are insane, or I could say 'more power to them'. I choose the latter.

I'm so sorry your cat was shot. That's despicable. People who shoot domestic animals knowingly are ruthless and spineless. I hope you make the right decision.
While I'm surprised it's made it this far in the thread, if pet owners kept their pets on their own property....
Most people would never think of tresspassing on someone else's property but for some reason they don't hold that same courtesy to their pets, regardless of the law. Cat owners tend to be worse than dog owners about letting their pets roam freely (generally to wreck havoc on local wildlife). The feral cat population exists for only one reason, irresponsible and naive pet owners. Despite local ordinances to the contrary, I've lost count of the cats that roam in my yard. Not a single one even has a collar though I know most are 'pets'.
