For those efforts us that don't hunt, what's the significance of the bands?
Maybe on 1 out of every 100 ive killed. A portion of ducks and geese are banded annually . You call in where you killed it and report it and you can find out where they were banded.

What’s the furthest y’all heard of them traveling from their original banding spot?

I have one from north of Grosmont Alberta which is 1,800 miles and one from Saquenay Quebec, that is 1,980 miles. I shot a goose a few years ago that was banded west of Burbank Oklahoma. That is a whopping 20 miles from my home. The goose was 9 years old. Probably from one of the resident flicks that never leave our area. All the mallards I’ve shot have been 1 or 2 years old. I have a goose band that has 2 big perfect circle dents in from being hit with some shot. Looks to be about the size of #2 or #4 shot. There wasn’t any in the goose breast when I clean it though
