A law against vertical fore-grips on pistols is absurd. If that shows your intent to shoot it two-handed, then why are angled fore-grips OK? It's still something calling for two-handed operation. For that matter, what about ANY grooves, stipping, or other evidence that you're expected to grab the handgun with your non-dominant hand?
What about hooked trigger guards, to get your support hand really grip the gun's trigger guard to hold down recoil?
Why doesn't BATF say that hooked trigger guards are unlawful because this means the weapon wasn't designed to be fired with one hand only?

I'll do you one better. Why is there a law preventing grabbing the gun with your non-dominant hand in the first place? How does that save lives?
