Share them if you got them.

I am looking at 70-80gr .243 and Mild FMJ for .308 - range time for trigger discipline, form, etc….

Maybe a cheaper than bulk type .223 load

CFE223 is the powder I am looking at for .223 and .308

Not sure about .243 with light bullets. All of my .243 loads are worked up to max with 95 and 100 grain hunting bullets. Unlike most grown men on the internet I kill deer quite handily with a .243 🤷‍♂️

CFE 223 is good for heavy bullets/charges in 223/308. Not sure it will yield good results for lighter loads. 8208xbr, 4895 burns a little quicker and would probably do better for 55/147 fmj light loadings in 223/308. Otherwise I got no input. I load heavy and fast in both for matches.

Got plenty of pissin hot reloads with 185 juggernauts and cfe 223 than I'm 90% sure would break an AR10 in a few rounds.

Reloading cheaply for Plinking with the 223 and the 308/243 is not easy to do. Large Rifle primers are hard to find.

Generally,I suggest just using your standard load with the cheapest bullets and primers you can find. Or just buy the cheapest brass cased ammo you find for the 223. The price has been coming down for the 223.

I found the 300BLK to be and excellent plinking cartridge when fired from a bolt action gun.
You can use a plated 30-30 bullet from Berry, or a powder coated bullet from Missouri Bullets, and just about any pistol powder. The coated cast or plated bullets work best below 1900fps.

These are my loads, they may not be safe for anyone else. Use at you own risk.

I use 16.9 LilGun(1899fps) , 14.5 Alliant 2400 (1839fps), or 8.5 HS-6 (1365fps) with a 150 grain Berry Bullet, and a small rifle primer. Accuracy has been best with 2400, and Federal Small Rifle primers, but I use the HS-6 load the most for distances out to 100 yards. 5 grains of Clays, or Red Dot makes a very quiet pinker with the 150 grain bullets and pistol primers.

Gun= Ruger American Ranch for the 2400 and HS-6 loads/AR15 for the LilGun.

My AR has to be loaded as a single shot with the flat nosed bullets, I use a 150 FMJ SPBT/17.2 LilGun (2005FPS) for semi auto work.

I understand the cost of primers. I like to shoot “deer type” rifles a lot. The .243 has always been my standard practice/truck/utility gun. A box of Core-Lokt ammo used to be 11.00 dollars - That is why I have a herd of .243 rifles. I used to keep one here, there, and everywhere. Always one to loan to yutes in camp or my Yankee buddies when they visited. I am a Fudd and just now embracing an AR in 5.56 as the utility/truck gun.

**Been contemplating reproducing the Hornady-Lite ammo with an 87gr V-Max….needs a bulky fast powder to get about 2600fps with decent case volume. Any suggestions?**

Thanks for the tip. Didn’t think about the 300BO!

My light 243 grandkid load is a 75 grain HP bullet with 43.0 AA4350 @2843fps.

I use this load to preclude having to re-zero the scope for the lighter bullet as its velocity is pretty close to that of a full power 100grain bullet.
