YouTube is your friend. It will give you understanding of how to disassemble
Turn the water off. Take off the handle. Remove chrome faceplate and escutcheon. Remove bonnet nut. Pull out the cartridge. The cartridge has 2 main pieces. Separate them to get to the seats and springs.
The last one I repaired was a Moen and had been there quite a while. It took more effort to remove the cartridge than the Utube video indicate, but it finally came out without having to purchase the special removal tool.
I cleaned the inside of the pipe and replaced the entire cartridge.
It took about 45 minutes total and the cost was around $25.

What Brand is it? Most if them have a lifetime warranty and will send you a replacement cartridge if you call them
Yes, it’s a Delta faucet.
Get the more expensive cartridge with the brass center shaft vs the plastic one. Especially with kids. A firm tug on the shower handle can break the plastic one.
All tub shower cartridges have a brass stem.
Call or email them and they will gladly send you the replacement cartridge. I paid $5 I think for shipping and they usually will send it 2nd day
