I believe up until very recently most armored car guards carried full size 38 revolvers.

I bought one of the Victoria, Australia PD turn ins in 2011 (?) from Bud's -

Model 10-5, pinned 3" barrel, square butt on which I installed a Tyler T-Grip. It is arguably one of the coolest guns I have and it's legacy as an Aussie PD gun is a contributor.

These CDC turn-ins are pretty sweet.
