Possible ODT Gun Show & Swap Meet in Albany, GA on Nov. 11

Hi Everyone!

We are considering having a gun show/swap meet in Albany, GA on Nov. 11. We will send out an email later today to try and gauge interest in the event and this will serve as the discussion thread for it.

We currently have a hold on the Albany Civic Center and we need to make a decision in the next week or so.

What does everyone think, is there enough interest for this event to work? I tried many other places and this was the first place that didn't turn me down.

Best week of the rut where I hunt. A hard no on attending

Seems like Macon, Perry, those middle of the state locations would be better for active members in central and south Ga. Albany is SW, and it is a crime ridden **** show. I would not be able to go either way, but those are the things I would consider.

I live in Perry and would LOVE for it to be held here. But there's only one venue that I'm aware of which is the Ag Center and they already turned us down.
Now if it's still up for debate then yes, I would vote for somewhere around Macon ( but not Macon) which is MIDDLE GA. That makes it a more reasonable drive for everyone.

For me, I am in Stockbridge, that would be a long haul.

I live in Albany, this is a bad idea, crime is high, everyone knows its 3 days max till release, if your actually arrested, so no need for bail. Besides the usual gangs, Albany is home to a large homegrown version that operates freely, thier tag is APD. Tifton, Cordele or even Thomasville are far better choices.

If you live in Albany then you know all about the former Lt. Governor Mark Taylor who's son is or was a known dope addict. Pretty sure Mark was corrupt. I've always heard that Albany was crack town. BUT...I'm trying to be supportive IF that's where we're going. In a previous related thread someone mentioned the Macon Coliseum. I grew up in Macon and I know it well. The Coliseum IS a good venue. But it's surrounded by ghetto for miles.
My thing is I think it should be a little closer to Macon /Byron/Warner Robins etc. Or like you mentioned maybe Cordele. I don't know much about Cordele but it IS south and right off I75. So if it's still up for debate then yeah there's better options. If it's not then I'll still be there.

I would gladly go to Milledgeville but it's not exactly South GA. I do think that making it middle GA would be more convenient or maybe fair to anyone making the drive.
