Post a pic & short description of your bug out vehicle

I would love a 70's model Suburban, 4 x 4, subtly lifted, quietest exhaust system I can find, painted beige or something that doesn't stand out. Right now we have:

If there's no EMP... in this pic we had 2 infant car seats in the second row and 4 63 gallon barrels in the back. Plenty of room, inconspicuous, and most importantly, all we have.

If there is an EMP:

After I read the article about EMP's and vehicles posted above by cw006, I don't even think the '68 Cub Cadet would even still be running. It's a fascinating read if you haven't checked it out yet. Most disheartening, and it's something that I hadn't really thought of, is that the roads would probably be made instantly useless. The combination of rolling disabled vehicles, drivers distracted by electrical issues, and no traffic lights at the moment of the EMP would probably guarantee massive car pileups -- on top of all of the vehicles disabled and sitting in the road.

All I see are rolling targets. Even if one has bullet proof windows, the tires can still be shot out. after that is a waiting game till your head pokes out. You'll need to install a porthole to piss/***** out of.

Only thing a bug out vehicle does is scream supplies to anyone in need. Most likely if you need to bug out its already too late, since most roads will be loaded with people thinking the same thing or blocked with people who ran out of gas. How's the mileage in that H2 while doing 5-10 in the dirt/grass instead of 55 on the street? It'll cut your range down & then you could be stuck short from you destination.

If you want to bug out, best to trek it there in the woods away from any roads. Just prep your bug out location first & your supplies are already there. Just grab what ever you need to get there & your ready to roll. Less is more when hiking.

It'll suck more when your stranded & forced to leave most of your valuables behind unless you decide to hord up in a building close to your vehicle. By then you would have been better off at your home where you know your suroundings.

Sounds like you are ready to start writing for Hollywood.

Post 10 mile test drive in the snow and mud. She never got stuck! LOL

What is a bug out vehicle? What purpose does it serve. What capabilities must it have? What liabilites must be dealt with?

Lastly, why post a pic of a BOV? Why not just share the combination to your safe, what your food inventory is and when you'll be away from the house?

I appreciate the reason someone would want to share such info about their means of egress, but where does personal security come into this? When I see these vehicles posted, my natural instinct it to devise a means of rendering them useless, and it doesn't mean an EMP. A simple ditch would stops most any of them, and would slow the rest long enough to use other means to incapacitate it.

don't give advanced intel to those who would be your enemy.

But with regards to my first questions, anyone care to answer them?
