I have bought a few hundred Powdered coated bullets and getting around to shooting some 158 grain 38 bullets. Through my revolvers with zero issues.
I am running through my Henry x suppressed now and out of 70 rounds I have had two squids.
I have two theories, a) the powder coating is thick on these causing to much friction in the barrel. Or B) they are loaded to light for the 16 inch barrel. I wanna say they are around 5ish grains of unique. That my goto on 9mm load.

First squib was about 4inches down the barrel.
Second Squib was a inch from the end of the barrel (almost mad it)

I have also had the happen with coated 9mm's as well. Mostly not going into battery versus squids.

My question is about the powder coated bullets. Any one else have a issue with them? Possibly the diameter is to big?

On the powder coating side, make sure it’s fully cured. Rubbing with MEK will tell if it’s fully cross linked. Just curious if you are using polyester, epoxy, or acrylic? Let me know if you ever need any, I’ve always have some trial powder I need to get rid of, lol. No cost of course.

4" down the barrel seems to me a "no powder" situation (the primer will usually push it into the rifling in most cases). Could be also like you mention that the loads may have been on the light side for cowboy action/subsonic loading, and if the bullets were sized then PC, they might be a bit on the large side and the combination makes them "sticky".

but if the others seem to have plenty of power and those two "felt weird" I'd go with under charges.

PC by itself shouldn't cause any issues. I'm about to start casting and PC some bullets for heavy 9mm and 45-70.
