PRE 64 winchester 70 help

Anyone have any experience with a Pre 64 Bolt assembly I have a model 70 with a bolt someone messed with and the safety won't engage. Any suggestions out there?

Either the bolt is not closing completely and the lock is interfering with shroud, or the cocking piece is moved forward due to a trigger job and the cam must be reshaped. Not a home gunsmithing project, for safety reasons.

Sounds like they may have installed an after market firing pin and did not fit it to the safety.

Disassemble and inspect it.

or an after market trigger, and as noted above the cam was not properly tuned, by someone trying to "lighten" the trigger.

Certainly could be a trigger install issue. I remember putting a Timney Trigger and Tubb firing pin in a Mauser, both kits mentioned some tuning may be required.
