Seems like it took forever but I am finally having success on land trapping. Ive always been an excellent beaver trapper but Ive had plenty of frustration breaking the barrier to land trapping. I had about 7 sets out at my buddy’s property. Coyote scat and tracks everywhere out there so I told him Id at least make an attempt on them. I caught my first coyote on Tuesday morning. Female. The very next morning I caught my first bobcat. Sucked I had to release him but season for them ended back in February. Just today I caught my second coyote. Male. Unfortunately I have made up my mind to remove my sets until the cooler weather comes back in. Trapping in the heat with all the ticks on the coyotes just isnt fun for me but with 2 coyotes and a bobcat caught within a few days span I would say I am on my way to figuring this out!

IDK...Im asking...is trapping legal? Isn't it considered inhumane?
Also...what do you do with them?
Trapping is legal if you follow by the DNR rules. They have limits on size of traps you can use on certain critters, areas you can trap, how long you can trap for, a license to trap, etc. Thankfully in this state there is no limit on trapping coyotes and beaver. They are fair game all year long. Inhumane? Some might call it that but Im sure the lady who owns the property I am trapping now would say otherwise. She physically saw from her kitchen window 2 grown and 4 young coyotes run up to her back porch and grab her cat. They tried to run away with it as she ran out of the back door shouting. They dropped the cat but the damage was considerable so the cat died. All this happened in broad daylight. As for what I do with them. I save the pelts and tan them out. Once I get a decent enough pile I will sell the tanned pelts. I save the glands that are useful for making bait/lure and on beaver I keep the meat to use as predator bait. Occasionally I will make a beaver stew. Its actually pretty good. Tastes and looks just like beef.

So you're telling me you didn't keep and train the yotes? I want a HD coyote. String him up to the Japanese Maple in the front yard and throw him some squirrels every once and a while. Lol.
