Primers for 38 special and 357 magnum

Winchester markets a large pistol primer that they state to be suitable for both standard and magnum loads. I've used them for years. As long as you stay away from max loads you can likely get away with magnum primers in standard loads.

Many powders can react dramatically different with what may seem like small likely insignificant changes. For me, it just ain't worth "F' ing" up me or my weapons to save spending $20.00 for the right primers.

Ok thanks

I just got done loading 1500 rounds of 38 special standred CCI primers, 158 gr. SWC with 3.6\3.7 gr titegroup powder.
They shoot great out of my 2'' S&W model#638 ct.

Awesomeness! All great information given you from the ODT reloading crew. If I can get away using a non-magnum primer, I'll do so for all mentioned and the fact it may screw up the accuracy of the load. If the loading recommends a magnum primer it's to your best intrest to use one.
