Can a completely private school such as a Christian school that is attached to a big church give staff members or certain parents written permission to carry, without having to go through the local board of education and jump through all those extra hoops including having an annual background check done, the way personnel of a public school operating under the authority of the Board of Education would?

Compare code section 16-11-127.1 (c) with 16-11-130.1.

I went to a private school such as described and can tell you they March to the beat of their own drum. I have no idea to the answer to your question, but the last thing someone would want is to be caught with a gun in an unauthorized location with written permission from someone who did not have the authority to give it.

After reading both sections, it appears the answer is no, however the only part the gun possessor could be held responsible for is having the permission from a "duly authorized person." Sounds like an expensive mess to get caught in the middle of.
