PSA: Clean those coils!!!

Well that friggin sucked! I guess I had clues the last two days but ignored them. Lost everything in the fridge and freezer. Bought the house almost two years ago and never pulled fridge out. Vent leading to, and coils themselves, covered in thick dust. Don't know how old fridge is but possibly never cleaned. In fairness, not something that would have been on my radar. It is now!
We had WAY more $$$$ in that freezer than I realized.
Get the vac out and CLEAN THOSE COILS!!!
Fingers crossed that was it..... (appears to be the culprit.)

Clean coils make the AC very happy. It won’t crank the amps on the circuit.

I’m pretty sure my moms shop fridge is 40+ years old as she inherited it from my grandma when she sold her house back in 1988… it’s still going strong

Yeah. Had a probably late 70s early 80s vintage in the basement garage in Georgia. Filthy. Never missed a beat. These new high dollar disposable units seem to be a lot more sensitive.

Wouldn’t surprise me if these companies have somehow added a self destruct function in the boards after so many hours… I think my fridge only had a 3 year warranty

Tough luck but of all the brands of fridges that one gets the most hate. No spare pares and servicemen won't work on them. They had a super efficient but unconventional compressor that apparently had a super short life. Not sure if they still use it but beware..

They're just that disposable. Sadly most things today are. No pride in work anymore.
