PSA: Clean those coils!!!

No pets in our house for that reason. (They have their own insulated, air conditioned and heated shed).
Well it's still not down to operating temp yet, so perhaps a bigger problem. It's at 48 & 39 which is colder than it was, but seems to have bottomed out. Manual and interwebs says it can take 24 hours. But I'm losing hope...
Can I move in with your pets??!!.....:becky:
How long has it been on now??

Well that friggin sucked! I guess I had clues the last two days but ignored them. Lost everything in the fridge and freezer. Bought the house almost two years ago and never pulled fridge out. Vent leading to, and coils themselves, covered in thick dust. Don't know how old fridge is but possibly never cleaned. In fairness, not something that would have been on my radar. It is now!
We had WAY more $$$$ in that freezer than I realized. :frusty:
Get the vac out and CLEAN THOSE COILS!!!
Fingers crossed that was it..... (appears to be the culprit.)
Sorry that happened to you, sir. It's a real shame, and a pain in the butt to clean. Good luck.

A couple months ago we had a little drip of water under the front of the fridge, nothing catastrophic, but made me wonder if something was up. Ended up moving everything to the garage fridge/freezer and do a thorough cleaning of the coils etc. with the shop vac.

That was 2 moths ago and everything has been fine...until 40 minutes ago when I got up and there's my little puddle again. And this thread...dang.

I could live in an insulated, air conditoned and heated shed...how much is the rent?
24 hours is about right. A freezer doesn't have an "instant freeze" feature.
If you buy a new freezer it tells you to wait at least 24 hours before using .
Good luck.
Rent is tree fiddy. First, last and security deposit on move in. Beagles said "no (other) pets".

I guess it's been around 20 hours since coils were cleaned.... Freezer now at 42. :pout:

You may need to clean your evap drain. Between dust and pet hair the drain line gets filled with a black crap that is concrete like. PIA.

Just emptied out the fridge and freezer again. Just like you said, the evap drain is frozen solid again. Just not sure why it keeps happening, I'll troubleshoot more when it thaws out. You probably saved me a nice little repair bill, Sir. This is why I love the ODT.
