Depends.

Standard A2 rifle tube work... with the proper 308 buffer.

Carbine tubes are a bit different. Usually requires a longer 308 buffer tube... though I think someone makes a special "short" 308 carbine buffer that allows the proper stroke distance for the longer 308 BCG in a regular AR15 carbine tube.
