Publix does make good subs but there's one problem. The bread they use is like rawhide tough.

You can ask them to make it in a big tortilla wrap. A full sub is two wraps

Rouses Market has excellent fried chicken (and other deli food) - they are only in LA, MS and AL.
My store of choice when we visit the Gulf Shores area.

I think they intentionally vent the smell of the chickens cooking out into the parking lot. It's the first thing you smell.

Friendly Gus's here in Macon out on I-16 on the exit to the gun club. The lady that runs/cooks the chicken knows what she's about.

How anyone with ONE taste bud can eat KFC is beyond me. If I want the KFC "experience" I'll buy a whole chicken, cut it up randomly with a meat cleaver, pour a 16 oz container of salt on it, then dredge it in flour and egg about 10 times and deep fry it for 25 minutes in 265 degree corn oil. Yuck.
