Quality 1911 Gunsmith Around Atlanta

I just picked up a nice little colt that I want to get some work done to. That includes front strap checkering, fitted beavertail safety, ambi safety, bushing, trigger job, and the slide cut for u-notch sights. Ill need to have the gun refinished, too.

I tried Harrison Customs. He isn't taking new orders as he is currently booked 8 years out (literally). Jim Stroh is retired.

Do any of you know of a competent 1911 gunsmith? Id prefer getting recommended to someone instead of just "risking" my new gun with a random local shop.

Don't know if he checkers, but if he doesn't he can send it out for that, but for everything else you mentioned, Shannon Jennings at Arrowhead Pawn in Jonesboro is top-notch...He's who I would use...HTH....mikey357

This place did a nice job for me a few years ago with fast turn around. The company runs like you expect any other business to run—-unlike most 1911 gunsmiths that are plagued with distraction. They hard chromed a couple of guns and refit a slide for me. They have been around for a long time:
