Question About Recent Traffic Stop

Tail lights have to have a certain brightness. Could be intermitantly dim...
But probably just did not want to say he pulled over a wrong vehicle. I don't understand that thinking but some would rather you assume they had a different reason for the stop. Best just to be honest, in my experience most people understand.

What brightness are tail lights required to be, and how do you tell if they do not meet the standards?
Probably a certain visibility at 100-300 ft.
They have to be at least factory bright.
The standards are federally mandated.
They are difficult to judge on the street. But kinda like the difinition of indecent, "I can't descibe it but I know it when I see it"

I am sure you have seen some that don't work right and know what I am talking about.

The OP should write a letter or make a call to the Department that pulled him over. He can file for an Open Records Request and get any video/audio from the stop.

Letters to the department make it straight to the shredder. Letters to the newspaper won't. When you send a letter to both locations, you get a response from at least one.
