So I finally picked up an AK yesterday (a DAKM) and after an appropriate amount of "staring" time have put it away in the safe. My question is, I have an AR-15 in the safe as well, will these two guns get along or will I need to purchase a separate safe to keep them separated?

Personally, I would store one with the muzzle up and one with the muzzle down.

It confuses them and in the dark of the safe all should be good.

They generally calm down after the safe door is closed. Speaking only from experience.

Oh, and if you can store the ammo separately, that is a good thing.

Don't want your rifles shooting their way out!

Get a 7.62x39 upper for the AR and they will be fine. You can store the 7.62x39 ammo with them as long as the paper inside the box hasn't been ripped.
