Question for PC gurus

Depending on the age of your PC, it is probably just the port it is plugged into. Simply plug it into another USB port and it should configure itself using Plug-N-Play

If you have done a Windows Update recently, it could be something as simple as incompatible drivers.

Depending on age, try replacing CMOS battery (like a CR2032, but open cover to confirm). Some PCs, especially Dell's, will give a keyboard error even before it loses other settings (date, time, drives, etc., normally set in BIOS). You nay also need to reset the CMOS via jumpers, but would start with replacing the battery.

It's an HP. I pulled the battery. It is a CR2032, and it tested at 3.23v, same as the brand new one in the package (which is weird, considering the PC is several years old).
