Question for you Constitutionalists out there

I would argue that Article V is more a basic principle of the constitution than any amendment. The amendments were modifiers of the body of the document, not the core of its essence. I hold the Bill of Rights very high but the Constitution itself is the crux IMO.

The BOR was the catch all that the Article of confederation supporters used when we switched to federalism to guarantee we would not return to an overpowerful centralized government, if the BOR gets changed, then we know it failed.

There are some things about the Constitution we need to comprehend. The Bill of rights is not subject to removal by amendment or fiat. This idea or premis that Congress can regulate or alter those ten amendments is the heart of the problem. The Government did not create the Constitution. The bill of rights puts the Government created by the Constitution, on notice that the specific rights listed are off limits to Legislative control.
Our Government is one of limited powers, and those powers were "granted" to the Government by we the people. The rule of nullification is always present (or should be) as we are begining to see from States like Teaxas,Oklahoma, Georgia and others. When a State passes a law against enforcing a Federal dictate, that Federal law has for all intents and purposes benn made nul and void in that States jurisdiction. Like Colorado and Washington with thier marjiuana laws. Even so I do not think your hypothetical will ever happen. Either way they can kiss it, my property,my life, my choice.

I totally agree. At the same time, as stated previously via the link to Amazon, the BoR is as good as dead these days. From the 10th on down, its been gutted like a fish.

This question was more about thinking than acting but you are definitely thinking like I am.

New Idea, If this kinda unthinkable BS ever does happen, let's get all of us 2nd supporter's and go take a slice of Mexico for ourselves. lol.

Good answer. Hypothetically and realistically I agree 100%.

The bill of rights is only as dead as we allow it to be. From the State capitol on down.

“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” Samuel Adams.

I respect the constitutional process. Unfortunately, the left does not. They use executive orders to do what they damn well know 75% of the states will not approve. Heck, they know they can't even get a majority in the house let alone 75% of the states.

But yes, if the amendment was repealed, I would accept it. But I would likely become a law breaker at that point. Not much different than prohibition in my opinion. Prohibition created a lot of law breakers and a lot of millionaire organized criminals.
