I would argue that Article V is more a basic principle of the constitution than any amendment. The amendments were modifiers of the body of the document, not the core of its essence. I hold the Bill of Rights very high but the Constitution itself is the crux IMO.
The BOR was the catch all that the Article of confederation supporters used when we switched to federalism to guarantee we would not return to an overpowerful centralized government, if the BOR gets changed, then we know it failed.
