Is there a magazine capacity limit on long guns for deer hunting in GA? I know there is one on shotguns, and I thought there was one on long guns, but I can't seem to find it in writing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't think so...

Towards the bottom of this page, you'll see what it is allowed and not allowed:
http://www.eregulations.com/georgia/hunting/general-hunting-information/

No silencers (the GA Legislation didn't get to it this year), and shotguns must be plugged. Also, it says that .22 caliber or larger bullets may be used but that you have to use expanding/mushrooming bullets (so .223 is good, though not advised unless you're a good shot). Leave the FMJs at home, but bring the lead or polymer-tipped rounds.

No magazine restriction on rifles in Ga.
Deer & Bear Firearms

Modern Rifles and Handguns: Centerfire Only, .22-cal. or larger with expanding bullets.
Shotguns: 20-gauge or larger loaded with slugs or buckshot. Buckshot is not allowed on WMAs, unless otherwise specified.
Muzzleloaders: .44-cal. or larger, or muzzleloading shotguns 20 gauge or larger. Scopes are legal.
AND

Special Firearm Restrictions

Plugged Shotguns: Shotguns must be plugged to a maximum capacity of 3 shells (magazine and chamber combined) except for deer, bear and feral hog shotguns, which are limited to maximum capacity of 5 shells. Plugs must be one piece and incapable of being removed through the loading end of the magazine.
Silencers: Silencers may not be used for hunting.

Here's a copy of the complete regs

Yea, it was. I read it in the regulation book you get from walmart and my friends read the same thing. Any rifle with a detachable magazine was limited to 5 rounds. I don't remember it word for word, but that is what it said. My friends and I even had a discussion about why it was ok to use something like a M1 Garand that holds 8 rds and it wasn't ok to have that many rounds in a detachable mag.

I can't remember for sure if it was in the general hunting regs or if it was some kind of WMA reg, but it was in there. I'm not making it up.

This is a copy of the reg you are referring to in last years Hunting Regs. The 5 rd. capacity was for shotguns only. 2011/2012 regulations page 17

Plugged Shotguns: Shotguns must be
plugged to a maximum capacity of 3 shells
(magazine and chamber combined) except
for deer, bear and feral hog shotguns,
which are limited to maximum capacity
of 5 shells. Plugs must be one piece and
incapable of being removed through the
