Question, Maybe you guys can help

I did a search of the 2011 reg for the word magazine. It occured approximatelly 4 times throughout the book and this was the only mention in the regulations.

There has been no rifle magazine restriction for deer in GA in well over a decade. When the bag limit went from 2 to10 per year the mag restriction went away.

Ok, since it's not there anymore, no reason to keep talking about it. I'm done. I have absolutely no reason to make it up. I know what I read. My friends that read the exact same thing, in the exact same regs book, know what they read.

Not saying you made it up just saying I couldnt find it. Stranger things have happened.

Seeing as how it was read from a pamphlet distributed in a Walmart, maybe they were regs from another state as they are a national company?

I agree that there was no 5 round limit last either...

I was hoping this was an legal/semantic exercise that did not really matter. If you have to take more than 3 rounds into the woods, your not much of a deer hunter.

Yea, it was. I read it in the regulation book you get from walmart and my friends read the same thing. Any rifle with a detachable magazine was limited to 5 rounds. I don't remember it word for word, but that is what it said. My friends and I even had a discussion about why it was ok to use something like a M1 Garand that holds 8 rds and it wasn't ok to have that many rounds in a detachable mag.

I can't remember for sure if it was in the general hunting regs or if it was some kind of WMA reg, but it was in there. I'm not making it up.

My girlfriends, uncles , brother, daughters, boyfriend saw it on a piece of paper and we all read and talked about it so it must be true.....this statement explains how so many people have no idea about what the law is....They just repeat bad information like it is Gospel. No doubt you read something, somewhere, but it had nothing to do with GA law about rifle magazines and deer hunting. Shotguns for hunting any game except deer, bear and hogs have a limit of three rounds and the rest is five rounds, but rifles don't now nor did they last year have a magazine capacity limit. In stead of arguing a moot point...call DNR local office and become informed.
