I recently bought my son a Marlin XS7 in 243.I've tried reloaded ammo and factory ammo,the gun will not chamber a round..Any suggestions?The gun will pick up a round from the magazine but will fail to close.

Are you saying the bolt won't close on factory ammo that matches the cartridge indicated on the barrel? I'd take it back to the store or send it back to the factory.
Something is seriously wrong with that rifle not to chamber a factory round. You sure its a .243 ?
Have you inspected the chamber? Can you manually seat a round? Will the bolt close without a round?
CCW is on the trail here. Maybe part of a open chamber flag left in there? You sure its 243? Can you slide a round in with your fingers leaving the action open? Your sure its 243? 
It could be, if it is a used rifle that the head of a cartridge was pulled off the shell by the extractor and left the shell body in the chamber. Examine the chamber closely for a stuck shell body which would block a new bullet from enteing the chamber.
The scope screws may be too long and protrude into the action.
if its new it may be chambered for the wrong caliber. i bought a new 243 browning that was actually chambered in 223. take it back
