Recently I attended a funeral with my wife for one of her blood relatives. The gentleman and patriot in question was a Vietnam Vet. He was laid to rest in the Georgia National Veterans Cemetery near Canton. I had never visited that place.
Here are my take aways....
The place is spiritual. Extremely humbling and solemn. And beautiful and peaceful. One can almost sense a "protective air" on the property, so to speak.
Every time I have witnessed a funeral with military honors it gets to me. The Honor Guard composed of elderly retired Marines were powerful and impressive. It was complete with a 3 shot solute. The young Marines who presented the flag were flawless. When the young Marine took a knee to present the flag to the widow and THANK HER, the entire crowd lost emotional control. God was there.
Given the back drop of the times in which we live, the overall experience was extremely moving. May God continue to bless America. May we never forgot the sacrifices of so many.
