I appreciate the insight. I just figured the moisture and humidity played a factor in it since the levels tend to fluctuate during heavy rain and humidity.

Mine definitely goes way up when it rains and low when dry out.

Just sold my house in Canton - inspector found radon in basement. I paid a contractor in install the radon mitigation system to get the house closed. I was in basement daily for 10 years - man cave shop - so I guess I am doomed if really an issue. It is an issue if you want to sell!

What was your initial reading? I had it done when I bought the house and reading was 5.

like anything else its exposure over a period of 20 years from what I read. Mine tested at 9.7 when first bought house. I sealed all cracks and remodeled basement and it went down to 3.7. Numbers fluctuate often.

question, is it better to have your crawlspace vents open or closed?

A vented crawl space should allow for accumulated radon gas to migrate outside, however, you are then introducing a possible issue with humidity and mold... whole different discussion.
