Has anyone used one of these? Own one? I know. Price tag. I can get something else. I have variables this thing meets that other equipment doesn't. And I won't be cutting anything thick enough the spikes left will puncture my tires. Just tired of buying equipment that doesn't work. Working with soft soil. Steep slopes vertically and horizontally. Don't want to compact soil. Atv is really only thing that works and need to maintain the area. Not finish mow but maintain. Shot in the dark.

I have not seen these before but sure looks like it would be great

That's what it looks like to me too. Planning on using vertically and horizontally on 30-35% grades though.

It rests on the ground and offsets 12.5" to either side. Seems as if that would add stability going up with weight on the front and, with counter balance weight on the back (I can keep it on uphill side), it would add stability when going horizontally. The only danger part is if I have to raise it and turn. Which I just won't do until on flat ground.

Is my logic sound? Are there issues that i am not considering? My atv is an 850 so I'm not seeing an issue there.

Just tired of buying stuff that doesn't work. Bought a PTO weed wacker for fence lines. Probably works well for folks on flat even ground, but doesn't work for crap here. If anyone needs that thing let me know.

I just want to "mow" really bush hog cover crops between orchard trees on the slopes. Not too often. Just so they don't grow up and choke sunlight to trees. We are doing coco coir mats and wire cages and overseeding with low cover crops but tall weeds are an inevitability.

The ground gets difficult and equipment slips. Crop necessitates soft, fluffy soil. Hairy to do with a tractor now before planting but possible.

Now we are planting trees there in 12' rows. And the nature of what we are planting makes soil compaction a bad thing. I was worried a pull behind would slip downhill when traveling horizontally. Even our side x sides struggle and slip. And we definitely don't do anything after rain etc. 4 wheeler is the only thing that handles it well.

Those remote controlled mowers on tracks are stupid expensive. And even with wire cages around the trees I'm worried my guys will destroy trees with a remote control device.

And yeah, I've looked at ventrac tractors. Also expensive.

The only real danger I see is stuff being slung out and no personal protection

I can see that. We have worked that soil a bunch over the past year but there is always something. And I could work it for 10 years and still be pulling rocks out. I already know I'm going to have to smooth out some areas. Gonna be a work in progress hitting hotspots with adjustments for several years. Especially after rain and getting cover crops to establish and out compete weeds over time.

The machine does sit low and roll on the ground with wheels though. Not like it's trying to free hang off the front of the atv. Nothings ever gonna be perfect. Everything is going to be working out kinks over time and making it work better.

I really wish I could find someone that owns one. Even a couple states away. At the very least being able to speak with someone, if not see it in person being used how I want to use it, would be great.
