Range day at Wilson Shoals

Fine day to take 3 of my favorites out and send a couple hundred rounds down range. Had the place pretty much all to myself most of the day. Nice range, been there a few times, great price (free) . RSO's are usually really good.

Yep. Made the mistake of going to Chestnut Mtn. WMA one time. Never again. No RSO's and usually some knuckleheads...

Wilson Shoals is enjoyable since the remodel. I try to go Tuesday -Thursday so never a crowd. Usually give the RSO a brick of .22 LR for the Ladies classes they teach.

Yes Sir, it is 1.5 hours without traffic, which is why we only go 2 - 3 times a year, but it's worth the trip. We also try to go to Gun Sight Hills in Lexington once a year, that's 2.5 hours but alot of fun shooting 700 yards!

Yes, no charge to GA residents, only catch is you just have to have a DNR fishing license, which I have, and it's free. Or a hunting license works too. Just check the requirements here:

The Wilson Shoals Shooting Range is located on Wilson Shoals Wildlife Management Area in Banks County. Please note that Green Tip or armor piercing ammo is not allowed at the range. The range recently underwent an extensive 11 month renovation process. Range improvements include:

Last time that I went (about a month ago) the sign in sheet didn't have the field to enter your GA DNR license number anymore.

Yes, the RO told me too many people said it was a violation of their privacy, and now you just sign in, time, and what category you are shooting. He also said be prepared to show it if an official asks to see it.
