Wow. well, it is a good reminder to respect the tenets of gun safety. Why am I not surprised it was a lorcin/bryco/jennings pos. Unloaded they make great paper weights. I bet you this guy takes them to court real quick.
It was indeed a very good reminder about gun safety. The guy did say he had problems with the gun jamming before when we were chatting. Do you think he would have a case against the manufacturer?
who knows... it would probably end up costing a lot more time and money than it would be worth. He would have to prove that the firearm was at fault and that his handling of it did not contribute to the discharge. Being his fingers got shot, I would think most folks (judge or jury) would ask why his hand was in front of the barrel.
then again... you can sue mcd's for hot coffee and taco bell for no beef. it is the era of easy money!

And also why I always wait for a bit when I have a misfire.....not good!
their reloads are bad about missfires. went there one day. a pissed off customer standing there whil thy tried to remove a 9mm bullet from the barrell of his glock. the round had no powder. hope the fella is ok.
I agree with Klark on this...I used to shoot up on the mountain at my family's property...when all the carpet baggers started moving in and building cabins around I went to public ranges 3 times...once with my young sons....NEVER AGAIN!!!
I joined a private range that is VERY STRICT in focused on safety.....you wear ID, you go through orientation, people have NO PROBLEM confronting someone who is unsafe. Even at the pin shoot I saw Monte (from protective measures) correct at least 3 people, one of which swept one entire section of spectators behind him. I saw Monte grab his gun and watched as he explained to Monte that it was "UNLOADED" in a "your a dumba$$" kind of way....
I think if someone calls a person "too safe" I probably don't want to shoot with them or be around them when they are shooting. The 2 things I started teaching my boys first at a very young age:
1. Muzzle discipline
2. Which gun is loaded? "They're ALL LOADED".....is the only correct answer.

I tried to take a piece of junk gun into a gun range (this was a long time ago ) and they said I could not shoot it in their range because it was a piece of junk. a good rule for a range, I think.
