R redemption144 1st range day with the Ruger 44 mag Super Blackhawk w/ Nikon Force XR
7 1/2" barrel
240gr Hornady xtp
23.5gr H110
1475fps

Sighted at 25, then 50.
100yd...
2 shot at 7o'clock, adjusted
3 in the black
1 flyer(me) at 11 o'clock
(1.75" group)

Tried another load with 12gr of Longshot.
Recoil was noticeably lighter. Only 1300fps. No difference in accuracy.

Going to stick with the H110 load for now.
Will see how it performs on hogs and go from there.

This was my 1st time ever shooting a 44mag revolver. I found the recoil to be mild and a pleasure to shoot. Wooden grips and all.

I used to shoot a TC encore pistol in 308win. Now that pistol needed the Pachmayr Decelerator grips.

Your h110 240gr XTP load is 100fps faster than mine. Shooting from a 7.5" Redhawk. Mine is 23.8gr H110 and CCI mag primer. #350 I believe.

I am a true believer in Ruger's Bisley grip. The felt recoil for me is VERY manageable with the Bisley. I shoot full house ++ 44 very comfortably without gloves, 480 is good to go bare hand as well, and 454 full house is manageable with a glove. 454 recoil is one of the nastiest ever. But tamable with the Bisley.
A while back I had a RedHawk 44 with rubber grips. I couldn't shoot the thing. Felt recoil, even with tame Winchester white box loads, was really bad for me. Twisting up and sideways, I even started flinching with that gun. Sold it fast.
