Reasons to love 1911's

being a person that has never owned a glock, why do ppl like them that much? yeah they look nice but......... there expensive...to expensive.

Expensive? Most Kimbers, Colts any Dan Wesson cost more than 2, 3, 4 Glocks. Springfields, Smith and Wessons, Sigs are all 1.5 Glocks. Heck about the only thing Taurus makes that costs more than a Glock is the 1911. A good shopper can get a used Glock for well under $500(usually around $400). The ONLY 1911's you can get for that price are RIA, Citadels(i think) and a few other lesser models. Well, Llamas(blech). ;)

The thing with Glocks is that they were originally designed to EXCEED military specs. Read the development section if nothing else:

They have the best triggers and the actions are so smooth and oh boy are they accurate. So basically everything a glock isn't. Lol. I just love them so much. Jmb got it right the first time.

The 1911 is very important from an engineering standpoint. Likewise, it is a cornerstone of Americana dragged through hell and back by our greatest generation, and I believe it remains as a mainstay in the shooting world on those merits alone. I'm going to pretty much stand alone and say that, while I love a classic old 1911 as much as the next red blooded American man, there are simply more practical choices for defense today. I won't speak to the availability of superior competition pistols as for my purposes, a handgun exists to keep me alive if I was too stupid to bring a rifle.

and this is a Taurus come on is there really any comparison.
To bad fatty got tired...

I own S&W's, Colt's, Kimbers, Kahr's and Glocks, I enjoy shooting them all but I carry Glocks and depend on them for my daily carry. I have nothing against 1911's even carried a Colt Combat Commander CC for several years.
