Reasons to love 1911's

I just love reading all this GLOCK love. Keep it up! I hope it drives the prices of 1911's down. Glock's are the best, can't beat them, can't destroy them. I love it. Before long, nearly eveyone will own at least one Glock. That is great. I however, will be buying those poor old 1911's that nobody wants, except for the old, misinformed, and stupid gun owners. I cannot wait to get my hands on a $300 Les Baer, Nighthawk, Kimber, etc. I really like Glocks. Especially the OD Glock. Wow! That is one expensive Glock, must be the color huh! Glock lovers unite! (Yep, a little sarcasm never hurt anyone. lol) Oh, back to what the OP asked, one thing I like about a 1911 is the way it feels in my hands. Just my opinion, after all, it is my hand.

I'll clear the way with my 1911 while you hang back.

Six years in the army..Combat Engineer. It'll be a nice change of pace to have a marine out in front for once.

JUST KIDDING! ;) (I ETSed back in 89. Thanks for your service and from the med discharge I would say sacrifice brother.)

JWC...I said "I love Glocks", not "I'm Stoopid". Get me a compact/commander 1911 light enough to carry without suspenders and get it about $3-400 and I'm all over it.

Something to love about 1911s: If ya gotta pistol whip someone they beat the hell outta Glocks. :p 5" GI 1911? Lethal at close quarters even with an empty mag.

From a personal protection standpoint, the 1911 has the Glock and most others dead to rights in the blunt-force-trauma department!

Man what is not to love about 1911's!

I guess if I had to pick one thing though it would be the 100 year years of proven service. Not something any polymer gun can claim.

With the right holster, even little ol' me has no problem carrying my Wilson Combat 4" 1911. I'm 5'8" & 160 lbs. and been carrying it almost everyday for over 12 years, carried a Colt Officers Model and a Govt. Model off & on for years before that. I have a Glock 19, don't get me wrong now, I like my Glock too but I love my 1911. When I draw my 1911 it always presents a perfect sight picture each and every time, the times I do carry a 9mm it's a Browning Hi-Power because the safety and the sight picture presented is nearly identical to my 1911. I'll put the Glock in the car or truck in addition to carrying my 1911 so my wife has a pistol to back me up if the need ever arises, also the Glock is our nightstand gun only because it has a rail on it for the weapon light, but one day I'll have a railed 5" 1911 and it'll replace the Glock as the nightstand gun on MY side of the bed.

My spidey sense is going off the charts!
