I'll clear the way with my 1911 while you hang back.
(I ETSed back in 89. Thanks for your service and from the med discharge I would say sacrifice brother.)
5" GI 1911? Lethal at close quarters even with an empty mag.Something to love about 1911s: If ya gotta pistol whip someone they beat the hell outta Glocks.5" GI 1911? Lethal at close quarters even with an empty mag.
From a personal protection standpoint, the 1911 has the Glock and most others dead to rights in the blunt-force-trauma department!
I guess if I had to pick one thing though it would be the 100 year years of proven service. Not something any polymer gun can claim.

I just love reading all this GLOCK love. Keep it up! I hope it drives the prices of 1911's down. Glock's are the best, can't beat them, can't destroy them. I love it. Before long, nearly eveyone will own at least one Glock. That is great. I however, will be buying those poor old 1911's that nobody wants, except for the old, misinformed, and stupid gun owners. I cannot wait to get my hands on a $300 Les Baer, Nighthawk, Kimber, etc. I really like Glocks. Especially the OD Glock. Wow! That is one expensive Glock, must be the color huh! Glock lovers unite! (Yep, a little sarcasm never hurt anyone. lol) Oh, back to what the OP asked, one thing I like about a 1911 is the way it feels in my hands. Just my opinion, after all, it is my hand.
There is something, but I just cannot put my finger on it right now.
