Red dot your ccw? Or stick with irons?

how many of you ccw red dot affectionadoes, have ever had to draw your weapon in defense of your or a partners life and had the time or mental ability to find that damn dot and stop the threat???
How many??
co'mon man, how many?
methinks the carry weapon dot craze will pass like man buns, xiden and all other things useless

Finding the dot it’s no harder than finding the front sight. If you just going to point and shoot you’ll do that with or without the dot . In my experience it’s definitely easier using the dot . Just like in a ar15 at close range , any red dot it’s quicker than irons (period)
I was never into the red dots but as I get older and my vision gets worse the dot it’s a big improvement, specially in low light situations, no need for night sights. If you are concerned then get a set up that co witness the dot with sights and have the best of both worlds, no excuse you cant find the damn dot cause if you can’t you can’t find the irons either so your ...k either way.

Ive been shooting irons on my pistols as long as ive been shooting pistols.I shoot pretty good with irons. Honestly i think the red dot shines when shooting distances further than self defense engagement range. The reason is that you can super impose the dot over the target. While with irons the sights cover your target at greater distance. As far as speed goes, i believe thats a training issue. You can get pretty quick with either system.

Personally ill stick with irons for my ccw, irons dont suffer from a lot of the cons of a dot. A majority of dots will fog when going from outside to inside or vice-versa due to the temperature shift. Dots can be obscured by dust, lint, debris, rain/sweat etc.
Dont het me wrong, the dots are cool, but they have their place, but in my opinion they arent where they need to be for me to rely on one.

Yeah, you are right! They are useless! I’m gonna take my dot off and throw it in the trash. I’m also gonna take the iron sights off cuz “yOu wOnT eVeR uSe yOur sIgHtS” in any kind of scenario a gun may be needed. I mean I’m sure that Jack Wilson didn’t use his sights for that head shot at 15 yards in the church building or Stephen Willeford when he shot at a mass killer outside that church that was massacred. Or for that matter, the dozens of others that have taken precise shots to stop active threats!

I get that “some” situations are up close in bad breath distance and yeah it’s a pull and shoot scenario but it seems people think that is the only time or way in which your firearm is used. Yet we see active killers in movies, malls, churches, stores, etc or even dozens of everyday citizens get into an unwanted gunfights with suspects in all types of places (many which can be seen in detail on active self protection) where you are ducking behind cover/concealment and needing to use sights to make proficient shots to stop the threat!

read this. It's well done and informative. they set up some shoot houses and gave the same guys guns with dots and guns without dots. moral of the story can be summed up in the 2 pics. Look at the hits WITH the dot and look at it compared to without the dot.

red dots add speed and increase accuracy at distance. They also cost $300-500 and require some time to practice. They add a small amount of weight and space to a carry gun, mostly in an area that doesn't matter.

find a buddy that has a set up and will let you shoot it (I'll let you shoot 2 of mine). Is my self defense shooting going to take place needing a 50 yard head shot? the problem is you never know until It's too late. May as well be ready for the worst case with the highest level of gear/training you can muster.

In all the times I've drawn a firearm in self defense (3) I have fired exactly zero rounds. the argument can be made that I don't even need to carry a loaded gun. I mean, that would save money and weight, too
