Red dot your ccw? Or stick with irons?

I have tried a couple of dots on different pistols, personally, I am faster with irons as I point shoot at distances a self defense situation would occur anyway, so no sighting is faster than either. One just has to practice enough with this method to be effective.

I'm a total boomer fudd when it comes to optics on pistols. Won't even give them a chance and I'm not sure why. I know, given proper time and training I'd likely shoot much better with them, but I'm keeping my irons for no reason other than stubbornness.
I've changed my boomer fudd ways and have adapted the rmr life.

This is a 100 yard target with my gock knockoff garbage rod. Granted it's not all that, but I would struggle to even hit that paper at 100 yards with just irons and a Glock19.

At least you're actually giving a shot. I don't understand people **** talking something without even trying it first. But they'll run around with optics on rifles.

I shot USPSA for many years (master), when the dot came on board things heated up. Now that my eyesight is 20 years older then when I competed I am finding the dot even more effective when you have to take aim. Yes, most defensive encounters are the 3s. Less then 3 shots, less then 3 feet, less then 3 seconds. So in that case you are indeed pointing and shooing on reflex, not aiming. But in a quick aim situation I am going dot, and green at that. Have one on my 48 MOS and will put one on my newly obtained 43x MOS as well.

Here is one of many examples where ya do need to “aim and shoot”. Granted it may not always be the case but it seems so many think “ya never use your sights or red dot anyways!”

There have been plenty of scenarios where people need and use their sights or dots.

Ya also learn in this video that how ya carry can cost your life if ya can’t draw to first shot quickly

Well what happened was exactly what I was afraid of happening, and that's now I have the urge to getting every modern pistol I got milled for an rmr.

I shot a couple of RMR pistols yesterday, my first time ever trying them. They are superior to irons in every way. I will be making the investment on at least 2 of my guns.

The Holosun (don't remember the model) with the outer circle and chevron in the middle is really nice, and so fast to pick up with the eye. Too easy.
